The Lion's Roar: Swedish sisters First Aid Kit have gone from faraway teenage fans covering Fleet Foxes for fun to recording a Blue Series 7-Inch single of Buffy Sainte- Marie's "Universal Soldier" with Jack White in his Nashville, TN Third Man Studios. Originally signed by The Knife owned label, Rabid Records, Wichita Recordings signed them in 2009 and released their debut LP The Big Black and the Blue in early 2010. Their sophomore album was recorded in spring 2011 in Omaha, NE produced by Mike Mogis (Bright Eyes, Jenny Lewis, Monsters of Folk). From the dynamic title track onwards, the sophomore album is a rich and stirring affair that expands upon the keen and sophisticated country tinged pop of their critically acclaimed debut. The Lion's Roar is a full band record, the girls' father Benkt takes the bass, Mattias Bergqvist drums, while Mogis and Nate Walcott of Bright Eyes, and a cast of Omaha-based musicians round out the sound. Album closer, 'King of the World' features The Felice Brothers, just passing through town during the session, and local hero Conor Oberst, who sings the last verse.
The Big Black & The Blue: FIRST AID KIT recorded their debut album, The Big Black & The Blue with their father at their home studio in Sweden. Highly acclaimed at the time is was seen on HearYa, Nylon, and PasteMagazine.com's 'Best of 2010' lists. Since then the sisters performed at the Austin City Limits festival, CMJ Music Marathon and SXSW, they toured the US twice and found time to record a Blue Series 7-Inch with Jack White at his request.
The Drunken Trees EP: Never before available on vinyl in The States, The Drunken Trees EP closes with another cult favorite - a cover of Fleet Foxes “Tiger Mountain Peasant Song”. A cover whose self recorded video of the sisters singing in the Swedish mountains was a catapult to their online presence.
